Clear Heat & the basics of Power*e™ Glass

Power*e™ Glass is a standard double pane insulated glass unit. It's patented design uses a safe low voltage DC current passed through the inside of the sealed unit to heat the room-side glass pane to a warm temperature. The low voltage DC current passes through the glass by way of an invisible metal coating, thus no wires are required within the glass. Power*e™ Glass looks the same as any other high performance glass. Of the 2 panes of glass in a Power*e Glass unit, only the inside pane heats up allowing the outside pane to be any type of glass desired.

Power supplies or inverters (120 volt AC to 50 volt DC) sized to Power*e™ Glass are required to run Clear Heat window systems. Generally, the maximum voltage input is 50 volts DC per pane. Typically a low voltage Power*e™ Glass window operates @ less than 50 volts, 4 amps, 200 watts & a 40% duty cycle. Power*e™ Glass uses Class 2 wiring (AWG).

Solar PV systems, also set up with DC current, are fully compatible with Power*e™ Glass & Clear Heat window systems. This factor makes a Clear Heat window system very sustainable.

The maximum glass surface temperature is typically between 90 degees F & 115 degrees F. The typical warm up time from power off to sensible emmittance is 10 minutes. Actual power output & consumption varies with variables such as building insulation & orientation, total glass surface area & Power*e™ Glass area, power supplies, glass surface temperature, inside & outside temperature differences, room configuration & other heating sources.

Power*e™ Glass temperature can be controlled by conventional thermostats & other building climate control systems. Windows can be controlled individually or be combined together into seperate zones.

All Clear Heat projects are custom built according to the client & project requirements. Power*e™ Glass can be combined with clear, tinted, patterned, opaque or other glass & may be incorporated into any type of window frame including wood, vinyl, fiberglass, composite & metal. A Clear Heat window system is maintained just like any other windows. Warrantees for Power*e™ Glass are the same as typical double pane insulated glass unit.

Power*e™ Glass has been tested by several independant agencies, including The National Gas Machinery Laboratory of Kansas State University for performance & Intertek ETL Semko, an international testing organization for safety. The KSU study confirmed Power*e™ Glass superior performance, including up to 50% energy savings over conventional heating systems & ETL confirmed product safety & reliability.
